Idea Day10: Demands of Goods Aggregator

I’m wondering why we can’t post demands on a website first and wait for supplies matching those demands later?

For example, I want to buy a DVD of Superman Returns, so I post the name of the good, (with or without photos), the price (or range of price) I am willing to pay, and my location. Then, at a certain random moment, those suppliers, including wholesalers, distributors, retailers, or even anyone who owns this object, come to skim through those demands on this website. Maybe they can also search for goods that are currently in their stock and ready for delivery. If one of those suppliers just has DVDs of Superman Returns for sale, she will be happy to find out my demand.

In addition, if the number of suppliers is more than 2, there will be an auction for them to compete for lowest price. Finally, the winner contacts the demander, and complete following transactions needed.

Provided your posts never meet supplier, you merely waste little amount of time. No money cost occurs. (It only takes you a few seconds to complete the process of posting per demand.)

Through this concept of mutual benefit, suppliers can locate demands more efficiently, while consumers get more reasonable price of goods.

Is this simple model too simple to be simply materialized?

Have you heard of eBay?

Hello, Mr.(Mrs.) a.,

Thanks for your comment, and reminder,

Of course, I know ebay, but I think there is something different from eBay and this idea.

1.) Most items on eBay follow this pattern:
I have something for sale, I list them on eBay (supply), and I wait for buyers. (demand)

eBay: supplies -> demands ; this idea: demands -> supplies

So, eBay tends to be an aggregator of suppliers, not demands.

2.) Most business models on ebay are c2c, although some sellers are retailers or even store owners in real life. In my proposed model, distributors and retailers can be the majority that provide goods for demands.

Nevertheless, I would like to post my demands on eBay! :D (Will sellers find my demands out of tons of goods for sale?)

I think this could be particularly useful for people looking for non-coventional products, such as collectors items, or rare requests. Sometimes people might not know where to go to find what they’re looking for, so if the seller has a financial incentive to sell this item, letting them contact the buyer seems to make sense.

Interesting idea.

Ya, I’m a star-wars collector, I agree with you :P

On the other hand, anything competing in an over saturate market is also good for this demands aggregator since sellers are eager to find buyers.
