Idea Day11: HeavenGate
I like the idea of HeavenGate, from reader a piece of new china’s comment on the BusinessWeek report of Eone.com:
“I have thought about launching a Web site, heavengate.net (much better name), part of it will be an online or virtual cemetery dedicated to the passed away spiritual people, where families and friends will make their passed away loved ones “alive” there by telling stories about them. […] The Web site will survive by donations only, including money donated by noble enterprises that will get their names listed only. No banner ads, no ads at all! That’s why I choose .net, not .com. No monetization for this site. Just a heaven-like online place for spiritual people.“
Meanwhile, I find the commenter ‘s ID very interesting. It reminds me that mentioning anything regarding death of someone in daily life is a taboo in Chinese culture. Maybe it’s one of the reasons why no one in Chinese Internet market dares to promote ideas of serving those who passed away…
So, how about the same HeavenGate, but serves different audience?
Imagine this:
Mother-and-Father-to-be, and their friends or relatives say something to those waiting in line in front of HeavenGate, those going to be born into the world of mortals.
After several years, when those babies grow to maturity, it will be nice to learn what messages/stories/reminders/advice/ their parents left for them on this web site while they were angels in Heaven.
Those parents-to-be can also connect to families with similar background, economic state, and attitude of education for their children, especially those live in vicinity. And build social network for their babies-to-be. (Children make friends even before they born!)
A section for parents-to-be to share dreams of their future family will be a plus.
But before anything could be done, let’s hope such service to be as long-lived as web1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0,…!



You might want to find a different name, Heaven’s Gate was a cult (in the US) back in the 90’s that committed mass suicide.
