Idea Day14: Ask The Elderly
This is another niche of Ask*.com buzz.
Nowadays, we can almost find any information from the Internet, except some priceless wisdom. people get overloaded information, but never sufficient experience. The generation of baby boomer is retiring, and moving toward the Internet. It seems that we can leverage vintage wisdom of the ederly, find out an online mentor, and have someone help us solve frustration beyond technical level.
- a.) SNS aims at retirees of baby boomers is a good starting point. i.e. eons.com
- b.) An easy, KISS design of user interface (for those not familiar with new technology.)
- c.) The elderly specify their profession, interest, or past experience, etc. on their profiles.
- d.) Key words of questions match with key words on profiles. Those with highest matching ranks receive relative questions.
- e.) Create links between younger generation and sage elders. i.e. Yahoo!Answers mode, or email Q&A communication, or 1 on1 chat session.
- f.) A plus: Social network consisted of two generations. -> Maintain long term relationship among askers and answers. -> Askers can appoint their preffered answerers, based on past experience & satisfaction. -> Personalized answerers (Currently, most SNS are made of the same generation with the same focus.)
- g.) Answers of wisdom/experience as advice. <- Differentiate from other Answer* sites.
*.) Monetizing? Pay per answer? (Many Answers*.com clones are on the same boat seeking for an optimal model to dig revenue, especially after Google announced Google Answers have been retired.)
Blink: Pay goes to both the asker and the answerer after (someone) granting that a certain thread of discussion is a valuable one and this tread will be highlighted on the front page? (sort of top 10 tips/ top 10 sages/mentors) But who grants (again, by democratic digging vote?) & who pays? The service owner?
All in all, my first question: Are the elderly willing to spend (precious) retired life helping younglings?
