Idea Day23: Wiki Online Journey Experience
Every time after a trip, you may bring back tons of photos with you. Normally, you need one more step to complete your trip - upload all photos to online galleries, and share them with your friends. If you are a blogger, you may share your happy hours with some additional story telling on your post.
Is this enough? Can I invite others who have been to the same vacation spots to share with me? Can we leverage memories to design a traveling map together? And share this package with others? So here comes an idea of onlinel trip which includes:
- Routes (a sitemap, shows where to start and highlights the next stop, till the end destination), (online map tools, Google Maps API?)
- Photos (each stop with related photos that everyone takes during vacation),
- Videos (as supplement of photos),
- Descriptions (you can record voice like a live tour guide or just leave text descriptions, try Voicethread, a service that adds voice records to photos,)
- Reviews (at the end of each trip you can add your subjective opinion about transportation, hotels, scenery, food, specialties, or people ),
It’s a collaborative work. Content of each entry (routes, photos, videos, descriptions, reviews) can be added by users of 1. local inhabitants, 2. experienced travelers , 3. anyone having knowledge of this spot/trip.
I think this service fits those who
are willing to experience online journeys.
may not have time/money to go travel periodically.
are not sure how to plan a trip.
want to check reviews before deciding among travel agents’ plans.

I’ve been reading Techquila Shots for awhile now and after mention of this blog over there, I’ve been reading here too. And without a doubt, I have to say that this is the best idea I’ve read so far. Everyone loves traveling, documenting the whole trip in this way would be amazing. The trick would be to incorporate everything onto a mapping application.
Well, you’ve got my mind going pretty good here.
