Idea Day29: BegForVisit
An interesting new startup, BegForPost, where you can beg influential media to cover your startup/ blogs. But I think even you beg Michael Arrington 3 times a day, he is still too busy to mention yours on TechCrunch. So, for me, I would like to beg readers directly, if one day I have no choice but beg…
This begging service could be a new functionality of MyBlogLog.
- a.) Readers I beg will be those reading blogs concentrating on similar topics as mine, but currently not reading my blog.
- b.) I have to know the readership of these blogs. That’s why I believe MyBlogLog can do this. Something like MyBlogLog that reveals readers’ profiles and contact info. Or I can dig out those readers from their comments.
- c.) As long as I have a channel to communicate with readers who might be potentially interested in my posts, I can write mails (i. e. a heart-stirring story?), talk to them one by one (more precisely, beg them one by one), or do anything rationally (inform them the value and feature of my blog) or crazily to beg a visit. (pay them when they visit and left a comment -> PayPerVisit?! At least I have never heard a beggar pays the donator. It would be fresh.)
- d.) Have you ever heard the story, “The Prince and the Pauper” ? One day when traffic of your site reaches a million (or thousands whatever you like) and it starts taking off, you don’t beg anymore. Now, Prince, you should find a way to repay early contributors, those gave alms to the poor. (your early stage) Perhaps mention benefactors’ blogs/ startups on your influential website, so that they won’t need to beg anymore!
It seems that BegForPost is a parody of PayPerPost, so when you are not taking beg too seriously, it won’t hurt much.
ps. Speaking of PayPerPost, if you haven’t seen the video of Jason Calacanis’s interviewing Ted Murphy, don’t miss it, especially the BIG SURPRISE in the end.
