Idea Day37: Interactive VideoTube
My best buddy Ethan offered me this link (virtual bartender) yesterday. You input instructions (a full list of commands here), and Miss bartenders will follow your commands. (Don’t do evilly. :P)
Though this interactive ad of BEER.com released a couple of years ago, I admit I’ve never seen it before, I’m a lagger…
“Theoretically” it not too hard to make this kind of videos. (Prepare various versions of clips and each clip associates with some key words.) So he’s wondering why can’t we have a platform where users create and share their interactive videos with everyone.
You could be the protagonist. (Next Justin?! I’m imagining Justin doing anything according to viewers’ commands…) Record different actions with the same background setting, and add a theme or plot to your series of actions. upload those clips of actions and then use tools provided by the site to mix clips and embed key words to trigger actions. Finally you can reveal all the instructions or just show some hints to viewers.
* Viewers can ask or suggest new commands/ actions they would like to see, thus encouraging and inspiring creators to produce more pieces. Oriiginal creators could even open up their videos to be edited by other fans, thus reaching collective composition of videos. (It makes me think of an open source film making project, A Swarm Of Angels.)
Monetization: Product (Brand) Placement
- a.) The theme of these interactive videos could include targeted products or services.
- b.) Advertisers set a theme or provide products for creators.
- c.) Or you make videos at first place and self-recommend your productions to advertisers.
- c.) Creators are paid based on the number of views or ratings.
- d.) In addition, advertisers could also hold contests to reward the best interactive ads generated by folks.
